Chvrches: Every Open Eye (180g) (White Vinyl)

Founded in 2011, debut album in 2013, successor in 2015 - one might think that the electro-pop band Chvrches sets great store by consistency. Far from it: With "Every Open Eye" the Scots show that they have long since developed further.

Although the new album still features the electric pop sound with which the band achieved their first big successes in 2013, overall "Every Open Eye" has become much cleaner than its predecessor - almost a bit minimalist. Even more than on "The Bones Of What You Believe" (2013), rhythm and melody are now in the foreground, and of course the enchantingly clear voice of singer Lauren Mayberry.

Already on July 15, 2015 the band presented the first songs of the album live at the Ottawa Bluesfest. Two days later, "Leave A Trace" was the first official single release. And this is a showcase for the new Chvrches record, both instrumentally and lyrically. Arrangements of organic and mainly electronic sounds meet emotional, deep lyrics. Band member Martin Doherty told the New Musical Express (NME) in advance that they would use fewer instruments but get more out of them.
